A Dream…A Job…Ihsaan

“Imagine a life where all your time is spent on the things you want to do. Imagine giving your greatest attention to a project you create yourself, instead of working as a cog in a machine that exists to make other people rich. Imagine handing a letter to your boss that reads, “Dear Boss, I’m writing to let you know that your services are no longer required. Thanks for everything, but I’ll be doing things my own way now.”

Imagine that today is your final day of working for anyone other than yourself. What if—very soon, not in some distant, undefined future—you prepare for work by firing up a laptop in your home office, walking into a storefront you’ve opened, phoning a client who trusts you for helpful advice, or otherwise doing what you want instead of what someone tells you to do?

All over the world, and in many different ways, thousands of people are doing exactly that. They are rewriting the rules of work, becoming their own bosses, and creating a new future.

Some of these unexpected entrepreneurs found their freedom through online communities….
Some were natural-born entrepreneurs, determined to go it alone from a young age. But most were ordinary people of all ages and backgrounds, who transitioned to a new career after growing disillusioned with the world of traditional work.

They all did it by pursuing two twin concepts: freedom and value.

Freedom is what we’re all looking for, and value is the way to achieve it. The magic formula of skills + usefulness is how you change the world.

When you value freedom above other things, you’ll make different choices. Your priorities will shift. You’ll have more time for your family and more time for the hobbies you enjoy.

When you focus on helping others, connecting your work to their needs, that’s when value is created. This is what it came down to for all of these people, and that’s how it can work for you too. No special skills, not a lot of money, but the willingness to imagine. Source: Zenhabits

After completing Masters, I wanted to use my skills in the most different way possible. The reason to do content writing can be read here.

The choice to sit at home and write articles for different websites was alluring for many reasons:

i) Freedom,
ii) No unwanted intermingling with the opposite sex (to save myself and others a lot of fitna)
iii)No unwanted intermingling with silly girls (which saved me from gossip and backbiting and talking about all the other hopeless things under the sun). Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not anti-social. (Explaining this requires a different post in itself, which I shall get to soon inshaAllah!)
iv) Spend time gaining Islamic info which was long forgotten in my pursuit of secular education. Alhamdulillah for IOU!

The advantages were priceless. The opportunities thrown at me were limitless. The choice to write the number of articles I want, whenever I want, turned the equation= I was in control.

With freedom came responsibilities and self discipline which was very difficult for me to stick to. Not having deadlines got the worst of me. Procrastination became my middle name.

After nearly 6 to 8 months of experimentation (and procrastination and ZERO self discipline ), …now finally, NOW..I’ve become organized  alhamdulillah.. and after reading this post from Zenhabits, this is what I concluded =We can either wreck ourselves OR with the help of Allah (swt) and His infinite blessings, we can take ourselves to a whole new level.

What has kept me going all of a sudden, you may ask. It was this beautiful hadeeth:

Allah loves, when one of you is doing something, that he [or she] does it in the most excellent manner.”

Its called ihsaan (excellence)! ♥

The equation= I am in control! SUperb! it is actually when Allah is in control of ur life, you become in control of ur things too. I should write on it soon.

    • Nasmira says:

Yup..absolutely true.. He (swt) left me in control to see if I utilised the blessing.. initially I didn’t, now Im trying.. alhamdulillah! :)
