Patience is Beautiful – Her weapon, My Gift

Patience is beautiful, they say, ain’t it?! And more so, when I see a close friend exude an overdose of patience at times when every other person would go crazy..patience a very big weapon actually!

Spending time with her in my under grad days were simply…the BEST!! We could speak for hours together and not get bored..we shared some very deep secrets too..we still do..even now..

Time moved on..we chose different colleges for post graduation..And then she got married..and as they say, time moves on..

Now, she is moving over to Saudi :( We would be countries apart, but hopefully, technology keeps us together..I think it’ll inshaAllah :)

I thought I might as well paint something and gift it to her..maybe she could take it along with her, to her new home maybe..and this is what I managed to do..

The rough draft!

A Little bit of Paint here and there!

My Den!! :D

This has to be THE most messiest painting ever..a lot of “modifications” went into it..the end result turned out to be pretty neat alhamdulillah!

And not to forget a sweet blogger friend Sara, who helped me out with the Arabic spelling..Me says to Sara “thank you, thank you” :) !!

Translation: "Patience is beautiful"..and her patience just adds to the beauty she's already been blessed with!

Bubble wrapped!

Gift packed!

Lessons learnt from doing this canvas:

a) I must invest more on kitchen sponges than on paintbrushes
1) they are cheap, and
2) they are very effective in giving ‘smooth’ results ..something paintbrushes can NEVER compete with!

b) Its easier to use sketch pens for little details rather than paintbrushes..yes the sketch pens will get spoiled but should I really bother when they are my little sister’s sketch pens..I think I’m entitled to spoil them..(these kind of advantages need to be utilized, else you don’t do justice to your ‘elder sis’ status) :D

c) Never never use pencils for outlining..they easily show up when one uses light colored paints.

d) One can use crayons also!! It doesn’t stand out at all!! :D

Loads of tricks to be learnt, as I see it..hmmm!!

Anytime sis! I was impressed ’cause you read Arabic! :)
    Thanks for linking! :)

    • Nasmira says:

      haha.. :D
How else would I read Quran and pray?! ;-)

      • Sara says:

I see, that makes sense!! :)
I speak Arabic since ever, so I never wondered what non Arabs do! :)

      • Nasmira says:

haha! :D Here, in the subcontinent, we are taught to recite Quran..(sometimes even with perfect tajweed), but we are not taught the meaning..weird u might be thinking..but that’s the way they approach the language here..so to understand what we read, we fall back on English translations.
But the city where I stay, we have Arabic as a language option in high school, university, etc. but they are quite elementary, maybe school level Arabic (I’m on that level now ;)!
So some actually end up taking extra classes to understand what they are reciting..
while others just recite like parrots and don’t care :) :)

Nasmira! This is such a creative and beautiful gift, Masha’Allah! I have always loved art, but because of bad experiences in my advanced art classes…I thought maybe I wasn’t creative enough. One of my favorite things was to do calligraphy. Hmm…maybe I should look for some calligraphy classes.

  3. Awesome!!! MashaAllah! :)
And lovely tips.. Jazakallahu Khair for passing them on! ;)

  4. Sara says:

This’s interesting! :) School level Arabic (original Arabic) is pretty good, it’s my Arabic level actually, (’cause what we speak everyday is a colloquial Arabic; which is different and very poor & weak!)
So you must be speaking Arabic well! :)

    • Nasmira says:

      I would love to say I speak well..but nah, i don’t, not yet :P ..I’m still learning..
but yeah..I can understand when I read something..by breaking the sentence into small words :)

O-M-G you are so creative!! That’s very beautiful! I saw crayons and paint in the picture – did you use both or just the paint? Anyway, tell your friend to frame your art :) I’m sure it will brighten up her room! As for your friend, I know how you feel.. A close friend of mine left last year when she got married to a brother in Fiji and worst of all, I didn’t get to attend her wedding and see her off when she left since I was not in my home country :/ Al-Hamdulillah for technology because you won’t really feel the distance after awhile. And when you do meet again, it’ll feel as though you guys were apart for only a short period of time. May Allah ease your affairs sis! *hugs*

    • Nasmira says:

Jazakallah khair sis..this comment was very soothing, I must admit! :) *hugsss*
yeah I did use crayons sis, along with paint..I used just about everything I could get my hand on, :D
It was quite messy but turned out to look decent enough in the end alhamdulillah :)

  6. x@hu says:

Awww, hugs to you coz you’re being separated from your friend. I can relate.

My best friend married last year and moved back home and now we’re an ocean apart. I haven’t seen her in a whole year. She very recently reminded me of this, while terrorizing my facebook wall. See? Technology does keep you together insha Allah :P

Your painting is so pretty masha Allah! :) My artistic genius is limited to amazing stick figures and five petal flowers. And apples, don’t forget the apples :P

    • Nasmira says:

      haha..yeah..two thumbs up to FB!
hey..btw..i love stick figures u know..just that i don’t know how to draw them properly..
I really love how ppl depict sooo many things with stick figures..I personally find them very cute! :)
AND I like any pic with apples coz that’s my favorite fruit :P :D
      *hugsss* :)
