A Native American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt. He said, “I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one.”
The grandson asked him, “Which wolf will win the fight in your heart?”
The grandfather answered: “The one I feed.”
The greatest jihad (struggle) is the one that’s performed against one’s own whims and desrires. To keep the heart safe from such evil thoughts and fill it with love and mercy is one of the biggest jihads all of us have to undertake on a daily basis..
After all.. a jewellery box is only valuable if it has jewellery in it. The heart is only valuable if it has the love and obedience for Allah in it, not one that is filled with worldly desires or evil thoughts.
