The concept of painting canvases always seemed super technical and complicated to me. Although I had a strong inclination towards drawing and painting right from when I was 4 or 5, painting on canvas boards looked like rocket science. :D
However, I did manage to stumble upon certain blogs and websites that were making life sized paintings with beautiful islamic calligraphy on them. Surprisingly, these sisters did not undertake any type of formal painting classes. It was their passion and creativity which made them excel in what they did. AAANNNDDD that was the only ounce of inspiration I needed.
I quickly ransacked my cupboard to discover an old but brand new canvas board that had remained untouched for almost 4 years! Smartly decided to cut it up into small pieces and that was the first and will be the last time I ever venture into doing something like that! With my hands and shoulders aching and burning, I finally managed to make two small pieces.
Started painting the first one without having any background idea in mind. That’s how I always paint,..ideas flow through as and when I paint instead of drawing a clear skeletal picture..which can turn out to be quite messy sometimes but looks abstract in a way..the way I like it! =)
Turned out pretty nice (much to my amazement and shock!)
I went over to do my second painting today alhamdulillah and really liked the way it turned out..had Breast Cancer Awareness in mind, clubbed it with “Pink Hijab Day” that is observed annually the world over on 26th October… therefore the color pink!
and here’s the piece! =)
“Alhamdu lillahi ‘alaa kulli haal”
Translation: Praise is to Allah in all circumstances.
People suffering from cancer or any type of illness go through a lot emotionally and physically. The physical pain is unbearable but the emotional pain is even worse!
So the above painting is a much needed reminder..for those who are healthy and those who are not..All praise belongs to Him and more importantly, Allah KNOWS!..
When you cry and fall on your knees… the pain and suffering you are going through.. Allah Sees and He Knows..All praise belongs to Him, He will not task your soul more than it can bear..so put up a smile and please your Lord..say alhmadulillah for everything..
Imagine the amount of blessings and mercy He would shower on you for being patient whilst fighting cancer or any other disease or illness! You are always on a win-win situation when you leave it in His hands after giving your best..let us not argue about His wisdom..let us not put a question mark next to His full stop..and wonder why we are going though this pain and suffering…
Narrated ‘Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) Allah’s Apostle said, “No calamity befalls a Muslim but Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even if it were a prick from a thorn he receives.” (Sahih Bukhari 544)
What more could a person yearn for if his/her sins were expiated for the suffering he/she is going through in this world. Imagine walking on the Day of Judgement with a clean record!
Also, this should serve as a reminder to others who are healthy: never take your health for granted…for..which of the favors of your Lord will you deny,
So let us all say “alhamdulillah for everything” ! =)
